Once Upon A Time in NY
“Once Upon a Time in New York: The Birth of Hip Hop, Disco and Punk” -
How the squalid streets of ‘70s New York gave birth to music that would go on to conquer the world – punk, disco and hip hop.
In the 1970s the Big Apple was rotten to the core, yet out of the grime, grit and low rent space emerged new music unlike anything that had gone before.
Inspired by the Velvet Underground, a new wave of ‘punk’ rock emerged in lower Manhattan including The New York Dolls,
The Ramones and the Patti Smith Group. Meanwhile, downtown loft parties held by gay New Yorkers heralded the birth of disco,
which would eventually spawn the ultimate club for the privileged few: Studio 54. The swanky mid-town discos were out of bounds
to black New York so in the Bronx DJs such as Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash and Afrika Bambaataa created their own parties, heralding the birth of hip hop.
With David Johansen, Patti Smith, John Cale, Richard Hell, Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, Kool Herc, Nile Rodgers, Chuck D,
Tommy Ramone, Chris Stein, Fab 5. Freddy, Lenny Kaye, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, Syl Sylvain, Nicky Siano, David Mancuso, DJ AJ,
David Depino, Jayne County, Leee Childers, Nelson George, Victor Bokris and Vince Aletti…produced by BBC.
Sento TFP, True Style Master Video

A NEW YORK WEEKEND
Here’s some shots of this past weekend’s trip. I headed up to NY with my homie Emerald aka Bra Digga for some fun in the city. Trip was off the chain, so good i barely took pics. But here is the few that I did happen to snap between the missions, drunkness, and prende.

Big Shouts to Rauly for holding my liver down!

D.A.D.E. 10Q interview with Liza Marie
I recently had a chance to catch up with Liza and drop 10Q on her.
For those of you who dont know this Miami Dime heres your chance to get familiar.
With an extensive resume Liza Marie’s experience in modeling, Acting ,and Radio Personality says allot about this hard working Miami girl. She is currently a correspondent for Urban Latino Radio and is also a continuing Ciroc Vodka Ambassador.
Not to mention a long time D.A.D.E. Supporter.

Rawb: Who are you, what do you do, and why do you do it?
Liza: My name is Liza Marie, I am an actor/model/correspondent/host. I do what I do because I love it. It is what keeps me going. It all started out with hopes of being able to inspire and reach people… it still hasn’t changed.
Rawb: Out of all the different things your currently involved in, which one is your main focus?
Liza: My main focus has always been acting. I am currently training with an acting coach. I am also aspiring to be a successful on air correspondent.
Rawb: How did you start modeling?
Liza: I started modeling when I was about 19. Since then I have done things here and there. It wasn’t until recently that I have been taking it more serious.
Rawb: Who is your favorite photographer to work with?
Liza: They all shoot different and I love each photographer I have worked with they all bring something different things to the table.
Rawb: What was your first big break in the industry?
Liza: Being featured on 50’s Most Wanted on THISIS50.com has to be one of the biggest things thus far. It is still very surreal to me seeing myself on there, lol!
Rawb: What has been your favorite shoot / project so far?
Liza: Again I would have to say my shoot for THISIS50.com. I shot is with a good friend/photographer Julio Carreras of Caliber Photography also on board was my dear friend/make-up artist, hair stylist Mariluz Fontanez. It was my favorite because they both worked on bringing the “sexy” Liza Marie back
)
Rawb: What are some of the things you like to do with your free time?
Liza: I have begun going to the gym to get in shape and release stress. I also love spending time on the couch with my husband and my two dogs watching movies whenever possible and spending time with my tight nit group of friends/ family.
Rawb: Being that your into acting, What is your all time favorite movie and why?
Liza: Wow, I have too many! I think it switches from time to time depending on where I am in life, lol.
Rawb: How long have you been a correspondent, and where can we tune in to see you?
Liza: I was just recently approached by Urban Latino Radio to be a correspondent for them. (I used to be one of their online radio personalities.) You can catch me on their Youtube page for now… http://www.youtube.com/urbanlatinoradio
Rawb: What is your all time favorite T-shirt line based out of Miami that starts with a D?
Liza: Um…. let me think….. DADEWARE, duhhhhh 305 stand up!!!
Rawb: Any tips you would like to share with people trying to enter the entertainment industry?
Liza: One thing I always tell people is this is a very hard industry, you have to build a tough skin right away. Know who you are and what you want. And realize you have to sacrifice a lot to get what you want. Things aren’t achieved over night, it comes with great pain and struggle. But it is all worth it in the long run. Because when you achieve some of the things you set out to do it is like lil victories won. As far as tips in entering this industry, research! I entered the industry blindly and made what others call “mistakes” but somehow was able to use them to my advantage and learn from them. But I would never advise anyone to go in blind… you have to know the business and be willing to fall & get back up!
One time for you Liza! thanks for the interview, and repping DADE all day!
